Thread procedures
Thread procedures place fine dissolvable threads under the skin, through a needle or cannula under local anaesthetic, to support and stimulate it. They may suit people with mild skin laxity who aren’t looking for surgery.
All procedures carry risks and results vary. Read about recovery and risks below.

About threads
They are not a substitute for a facelift. Any lift is modest, it settles over the following months, and results vary.
You’ll need a consultation with a doctor before any thread procedure, and a cooling-off period before it’s booked.
Recovery and risks
Every option carries risks, and your doctor will explain them in detail before you decide.
Recovery
Bruising, swelling and tenderness for 1 to 2 weeks. Avoid strenuous exercise and wide mouth opening for a period.
Recovery varies from person to person.
Possible risks
Bruising, swelling, pain, dimpling or puckering, visible or palpable threads, asymmetry, thread migration or extrusion, infection, nerve injury, and a lift that settles sooner than expected.
Who you’ll see
Thread procedures are always carried out by a doctor.

Important information. All procedures carry risks. Results vary from person to person and are not guaranteed. Before any treatment you’ll have a consultation with a registered practitioner, who will explain the expected benefits, recovery time, possible side effects and complications, costs, and alternatives, including not having treatment. Take time to consider your decision. You may wish to seek a second opinion.
