Oh my OGEE

Oh my OGEE

Beauty is complex. There are many variations in facial structures across different ethnicities and gender. However, when beauty has been studied across all cultures, there has been certain similarities which can be defined by mathematical angles and ratio’s.

You may have heard of the golden ratio, but have you heard of the Ogee Curve?

The Ogee curve is an S-shape curve along the cheek which gives the cheek a fuller appearance. It is associated with youth and beauty. Over time, the ogee curve flattens which can cause the cheek to diminish and lose contour.

When I see pictures of celebrities, whether in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s or beyond, I always note they usually have a fabulously defined cheekbone. The makeup artists also get this right when they put highlighter up high on the cheek, which gives the appearance that the cheek bone might be higher than it actually is.

The cheek can be treated with filler to give a subtle improvement in the Ogee Curve,. It is one of my favourite locations to treat, because with subtle change, it can make a huge difference to someone’s facial aesthetic without being noticeable to other’s what has been done. They may think you have lost weight, or that you are doing your makeup differently. But the confidence people feel with a fabulous Ogee Curve, is what get’s me every time.
